Job Title: Academic Coordinator

Description: Successful applicants will work closely with the Education Director (Dr. Pia Paaby), Undergraduate Programs Coordinator (Dr. Jenny Stynoski), and Global Health Logistical Coordinator (TBD) in curriculum design and implementation, and will be responsible for overseeing the teaching of three field courses: "Tropical Medicine and Public Health", "Ethnobiology", and "Research Practicum". The position is based in Costa Rica, and requires a commitment of 18 weeks in Costa Rica with 13 weeks in the field and 5 weeks in the OTS office in San Jose during each semester (Spring and Fall).
Requirements: Ph.D. in public health, epidemiology, medical sociology, medical anthropology, environmental health, etc.; M.D. or MPH will be considered with relevant experience. Excellent bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills (required).

Job Title: Assistant Extension Professor in Food Sciences
Employer: College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment Lexington, Kentucky
Description: Primary responsibilities will include extension activities with emphasis on food processing, food safety, and food entrepreneurship. The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized extension program that addresses the food industry needs as pertaining to food processing, food safety, plant sanitation, and regulatory issues. The appointee will work with a diverse clientele, including Kentucky food processors, producers, and county agents, in developing and implementing extension programs. In addition, the appointee will work with the University of Kentucky's Food Systems Innovation Center to provide applied research solutions and technical services to Kentucky's food businesses. The appointee is expected to organize workshops/short courses to train/educate food industry clientele and to publish extension articles and technical bulletins.
Requirements: Ph.D. in Food Science or a closely related field with a strong background and experience in food processing/food safety. Excellent oral and written English communication skills; demonstrated skills in electronic communication technologies for knowledge dissemination.

Job Title: Assistant Professor

Description: Teaching is an important component of the position. The incumbent will be expected to teach Food Processing and Food Engineering courses annually to undergraduate students in the B.Sc. Food Science major, and will also be expected to teach more specialized graduate courses, but less frequently.
Requirements: The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, or an Engineering discipline such as Chemical Engineering with a food science specialization.

Job Title: Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Food Science and Engineering

Description:The Food Research Center (FoRC) is a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC) created in July 2013 with support from The Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) for multidisciplinary research in Food and Nutrition.

The goal of the FoRC is to address key global challenges and develop internationally-ranked fundamental, strategic and applied research, benefiting Brazilian agribusiness, consumers, policymakers and regulatory agencies, promoting socio-economic development in the country.

The research projects are grouped into four pillars:
1) Biological Systems in Food;
2) Food, Nutrition and Health;
3) Safety and Food Quality;
4) New Technologies and Innovation.

The FoRC has a post-doctoral fellowship in the Laboratory of Food Engineering (LEA) at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP) to develop the research plan “Evaluation of the continuous flow microwave processing of liquid foods” in the Research Pillar 4 (New Technologies and Innovation) for the period February 2014 to January 2016.
Requirements: (a) PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering or Food Science and Technology;
(b) Significant scientific production in indexed journals and conferences;
(c) Fluency in English;
(d) Motivation and ability to teamwork .
