Lab Animal Care Assistant

University of Nebraska Lincoln

The Gnotobiotic Mouse Facility (located on East Campus behind the Vet Sciences building in the Life Sciences Annex) The gnotobiotic mouse facility is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to help care for our mouse colony. Responsibilities include working with mice in sterile environments; preparing the food, water, and bedding for the mice and maintaining the sterile conditions of the isolators using aseptic techniques. Performing periodic microbiological quality-control checks and assisting lab personnel with various mouse-related tasks. The position is for Fall 2018 and possibly longer.

Assistant Professor of Food and Bioprocess Engineering

University of Missouri

The University of Missouri wishes to expand its expertise in the research and development of food bioprocessing by hiring a talented faculty member. This unique interdisciplinary position is funded through the College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources. The research focus is on food process and biological engineering with emphasis on increasing the value of agricultural products by processing via biological, chemical, and physical means.

The Department of Food Science and Technology in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is recruiting an Assistant Professor specializing in sensory and/or consumer science with a PhD in sensory science, consumer science, food science, neurophysiology & behavior, psychology, behavioral nutrition, behavioral economics, marketing or a related field. The appointee will be expected to develop a research program on basic and applied aspects of sensory perception and consumer (eating and drinking) behavior with relevance to public health, agriculture, and the food and beverage industries. The position will remain open until filled. Independently plans and carries out assigned microbial analyses on a variety of samples of meat, poultry, and egg products, including the very difficult, complex, or unusual samples and analytical requests submitted to the laboratory. Performs the full range of microbial examinations of meat and poultry products and their ingredients to determine the presence, numbers and species of bacteria with particular emphasis on salmonella, listeria, staphylococcus, clostridium, E. coli 0157:H7, and other species important in food intoxication, food inspection, and sanitary microbiology.Positions are located in the Microbiology Branches of our Office of Public Health Science Field Laboratories located in: Athens, GA; St. Louis, MO; Albany, CA.

QA Microbiologist

The QA Microbiologist is responsible for conducting microbiological analysis of raw, in-process, and finished products according to regulatory, customer, and company specifications. The QA Microbiologist will be tasked with managing the company’s environmental monitoring program, providing root cause and corrective/preventive actions when needed. This position also includes preparing media and other supplies/ingredients to conduct analysis, performing calibrations, cleaning and maintenance of the micro lab equipment, and maintaining proper supply inventory.
