Grant awarded to Dr. Goodman
Generous award will provide for GM crop training
Dr. Rick Goodman has recently received a sizable grant from the Danforth Plant Science Center. This grant will provide $112,099 for training scientists on safety assessment methods and processes for genetically modified crops. The ultimate goal of this project is to improve food safety, security, and nutritional quality especially in various African and Asian agricultural systems.

Dr. Taylor Wins Babcock-Hart Award
Honor will be presented at IFT Awards Celebration in June
The Institute of Food Technologists has awarded this year's Babcock-Hart Award to Dr. Steve Taylor. This award honors an IFT member who has attained distinction by contributions to food technology which have resulted in improved public health through nutrition or more nutritious food. Dr. Taylor will be honored at the IFT Awards Celebration on June 6th at the Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Anaheim.

Gut Function Initiative mentioned in Nutraceutical World

Daniela Bautista recognized for international studies
Daniela Bautista, one of our own undergraduate students, was selected to receive "Foreign Student International Scholar of the Year" Award for 2009. This award was given by the Phi Beta Delta honor society recognizing international achievements.
Phi Beta Delta will present this award at their Spring Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 6 at 3:30 P.M. at Anderson Hall, the home of the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications on City Campus.
