USDA Laboratory Assistant Vacancy

RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT -- The USDA has a vacancy for a Laboratory Assistant.  Primary duties of this position involve assisting laboratory technicians and dairy scientists in various laboratory functions as assigned.  Duties include cleaning laboratory equipment, performing routine sampling, testing milk and dairy products, and preparing, and packing coolers for shipment, unpacking shipping coolers of dairy samples, traveling to milk plants to collect products from storage vaults.  General Experience includes being able to perform simple office duties such as operating office machines, computers, customer service in person and over the telephone, and picking up supplies.  Specialized Experience includes performing technical work in a closely related field, such as experience as a laboratory aid when the work was performed in close association with a dairy scientist or laboratory technician.

Monday Food Science and Technology Seminar

Dr. Jackson to Present on Starch Chemistry
On Monday November 5th at 4 PM in Room 42 of the Food Industry Building, Dr. David Jackson, Professor of Food Science & Technology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will present a seminar titled: The Complexities of Starch.   Dr. Jackson will also highlight how starch chemistry analytical tools can be used diagnostically to identify processing problems.

The seminar will be preceded by a reception at 3:30 PM in the student lounge area of Filley Hall.
